North Norfolk District Council Arts Service

The Council's Arts Service works to promote and encourage the development of the arts in the district, providing a service that both enables, and directly delivers, arts activity through developing the arts infrastructure and supporting the indigenous population of artists and the voluntary sector.

Objectives of the Arts Service:
  • To ensure diversity and quality of provision
  • To promote innovation, originality and local distinctiveness
  • To develop access to the arts for those living in rural and urban areas across the district
  • To promote the role of the arts in revitalising communities, enhancing the environment and contributing to the health and well being of individuals
  • To support and develop the skills of artists who live and work within the district

Core Activities of the Arts Service:

  • Provide advice, support and information to artists, arts organisations and community groups and administer the arts grants scheme
  • Work with key partners to provide a co-ordinated approach to arts development in the district
  • Raise financial resources for the arts in North Norfolk from external sources
  • Advocate the importance of the arts to social well being, economic development and regeneration
  • Raise the profile of the arts in the district and provide co-ordinated marketing
  • Increase health and social well being through increased participation in the arts
  • Increase access to the arts to excluded groups within the district
  • Plan and deliver high quality arts events
  • Engage young people in the arts
  • Work with partners to deliver public art schemes and contribute to the regeneration of the district
