Art on the Railings 2008
Norwich City Council, along with St Peter Mancroft Church, are offering local artists the opportunity to display their artwork in the heart of the city on a 'no fee no commission' basis.
After the interest in Art On The Railings last year, the number of weekends the event takes place has been increased to one weekend every month. It generally works out as the fourth weekend which will also include any bank holiday Mondays that coincide.
Starting Saturday and Sunday 23 and 24 Feb, Art On The Railings is designed to enhance the city centre and promote part of Norwich's rich and diverse culture by giving artists the chance to display their artwork on the railings of St. Peter Mancroft church.
If you are an artist who wants to be a part of this exciting opportunity or are an art lover who wants to get their hands on a piece of local work or are just curious to see a bit of Norwich's culture, this is the event for you.
For further details on the dates' or if you are an artist interested in taking part print off the attached 'Information and code of conduct' leaflet which artists must have a copy of to take part, or visit the events page on www.norwich.gov.uk, pick up a leaflet at City Hall or Norwich Tourist Information Centre.

New Print Website
A Picture of Norfolk is a new on-line art business launched this month, set up to publish limited edition fine art prints of Norfolk's landmarks and landscapes by local artists using 'on-demand' digital print technology. The digital printing technique used is commonly called 'giclée' which creates high quality prints that are virtually indistinguishable from the originals and guarantees ink light-fastness for 75 years outside direct sunlight. Prints are supplied with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. The range of pictures available can be browsed on apictureofnorfolk.com and is searchable both by location and artist. The website also contains biographies of the local artists featured. Over 70 pictures of Norfolk's landmarks and landscapes by local artists have been collected together at apictureofnorfolk.com.
The site currently includes pictures by 10 local artists, including Bob Brandt's North Norfolk rural scenes, Gill Baguley's lively coast and seascapes, Gena Ivanov's vibrant pictures of Norwich and the coast and Jean Hawke's fine landscapes and architecture, with more artists being invited to submit their pictures.
