Wildlife

red campion

In the majority of our Country Parks you can see red deer, muntjac or even red fox. You are more likely to see red deer at dusk.

At dawn you might find long eared, pipistrel and noctule bats flying just above your head with tawny owls calling from their nearby perches.

In early summer, you will see orchids at Holt Country Park, such as common spotted or creeping ladies tresses, as well as field scabious. Cowslips survive within the wood in areas of old meadowland. In the autumn a wealth of fungi may be found.

You will find butterflies at both Bacton and Holt Country Park, such as peacock, red admiral, white admiral, ringlets, commas, painted lady, purple hairstreak and many others. These are more common at Holt Country Park and at Holt you will also find dragonflies and damselflies - particularly around the pond area.
