Disability and Council TaxIf you or a person with you have a disability and have adapted your property for extra space to use a wheelchair inside the house, or an extra room for your special needs, we may give you a reduction. If you think this applies to you, you should obtain an application form from the Council Tax Office - you can request a form from us online, by telephone (01263 516071), or by mail or in person (Council Tax Section, North Norfolk District Council, Council Offices, Holt Road, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 9EN). You can apply for disability reduction and Council Tax benefit. Please note the following if you are applying for a reduction in Council Tax because someone has a disability:
Only you can apply for the reduction if you have to pay Council Tax, but someone can fill the form in for you. Person with a disability This person must live in the property which you are claiming a reduction for and can be a child or an adult.
The reduction If you get a reduction in your Council Tax, we will treat your house as if it is in a band immediately below the one shown in the valuation list. For example, if your house is Band C you will pay Council Tax for Band B. Keeping us informed If the disabled person moves out of the property please tell us.
