Assisted Burials
Where someone has died in your care or where there is no next of kin or known family members, or there would otherwise be no suitable funeral arrangements made for the deceased, you should (during office hours) contact the Environmental Protection Team of Environmental Health at North Norfolk District Council, to request a local authority assisted burial. The local authority will then assess the details of each case and, if the authority accepts an assisted burial is needed, will arrange for its preferred funeral director, East of England Co-Operative Society, 93 High Street, Stalham, to collect the deceased.
The local authority is only prepared to fund costs incurred by its preferred funeral director.
Our offices are open Monday to Thursday from 08:30 am until 5 pm and 08:30 am until 4:30 pm on Friday. Please contact the Environmental Protection Team on 01263 516085.
Making Your Own Arrangements
If you are having difficulty meeting the costs of a funeral for a family member or friend, you may be able to get assistance from the "Social Fund".
