North Norfolk District Council transferred its housing to the Victory Housing Trust on 13 February 2006 and therefore no longer has a landlord role.

The Council continues to have a strategic housing role and has responsibility for:

  • Assessing housing need through its Common Housing Register and surveys
  • Enabling access to affordable housing through the use of its nomination rights to existing housing association properties
  • Enabling the development of new affordable housing to meet identified needs
  • Providing advice on housing options
  • Preventing homelessness
  • Maintaining standards in the private housing stock

The Strategic Housing Team is currently managed by Karen Hill and it has 3 teams within it:

  • Housing Options Team (Looking at what housing might be available to an applicant, including private rented accomodation & other solutions)
  • Enabling Team (How the Council enables the development of affordable housing)
  • Private Sector Housing Team (Ensuring standards are maintained in the private sector housing stock including properties in owner occupation and privately rented)

The Housing department is there to help and is available Monday - Thursday 08.30 - 5.00pm and Friday 08.30 - 4.30pm

Affordable Housing Affordable Housing Development
Details of how the Council enables the development of affordable housing can be found on this page along with details of the current development programme of affordable housing in the North Norfolk area.

Common Housing Register
The Common Housing Register is the main waiting list for housing association vacancies in the North Norfolk District. The Register is administered by North Norfolk District Council. This Register provides information on people in housing need and wanting to live in the North Norfolk area.

Homelessness Prevention
If you are homeless, or at risk of losing your home, the Housing Advice Team can offer advice and assistance. Contact our freephone 08000 855889.

Housing Needs Surveys
Housing Needs Surveys are undertaken every 4-5 years by the Council to find out the level of housing need in the North Norfolk area for all types of housing. This information is used to develop strategies for meeting housing need and supporting new housing development. The last Housing Needs Survey was undertaken in 1999 and a further survey will be undertaken later this year.

Housing Options
Whether you are a home owner, private or housing association tenant, or have no accommodation of your own, our Housing Advice Team can offer advice on housing options and issues.

Private Sector Housing
This page details our role in ensuring standards are maintained in the private sector housing stock including properties in owner occupation and privately rented. It also details the financial assistance offered by the Council to assist owners and landlords in maintaining their properties and grants available to the disabled to assist with adaptations to properties.

Support for Vulnerable People
Supporting People is a national programme which delivers housing related support to vulnerable people to assist them to sustain their accommodation and maintain their independence.
