The Council is preparing a new Local Plan for the District to replace our adopted Core Strategy and Site Allocations Plans. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced planning policy professional to play a lead role in the process.

The Planning Officer post is one of four Policy Officers in the team dealing with all aspects of local plan preparation, neighbourhood planning, five year land supply, monitoring and all other aspects of planning policy development.

Critical to the role will be communicating with a range of interested parties including Members, officers, consultees, objectors and communities. The successful candidates will be presenting officers at Working Parties, Cabinet and Board meetings and will be required to act as expert witness for the Council at the Local Plan Examination.

The position attracts a benefits package which includes Salary, essential car user allowance, competitive relocation package and annual RTPI subscription. The successful candidate will also receive a golden hello incentive totalling £5000. Planning Policy is looking to recruit a Planning Assistant to contribute towards the preparation of a new Local Plan for the District.

The role primarily involves preparing the Annual Monitoring Report, Five Year Land Supply Statement, and Housing and Employment land studies. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute towards the preparation of a new Local Plan for the District and prepare policy responses to both internal and external consultations. This will involve carrying out site visits and therefore, the successful applicant will need to have a full driving licence and access to personal transport.

The successful applicant will hold a Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) recognised degree or diploma in planning, or be educated to degree level with three years practical experience in a Local Planning Authority.

They will also need to demonstrate good interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills, as well as the ability to write clear, precise reports and work to tight deadlines.

We are looking to recruit a Business Administration Apprentice for a 2 year fixed term contract for our Building Control team within the Planning department.

Through a programme of training and learning the post holder will acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to fully perform the role.

During your employment you will be given the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience and knowledge in all general administration duties within the Building Control and planning team. There will also be opportunities to develop knowledge relating to the technical aspects of the Building Regulations.

As well as gaining valuable work experience within Local Government you will work towards completing an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Business Administration.

It is important that you have a good general standard of education, strong IT skills and an interest in working in a busy office environment. An interest in Planning or Building Control would be desirable.

North Norfolk District Council is looking for an individual with an analytical mind, an excellent eye for detail and a keen interest in outcome driven projects. The person will be an enthusiastic self-starter wanting to set up data systems within the Economic Growth team. This is an exciting role that will appeal to people who appreciate trends and patterns of information and who are able to gather, monitor and evaluate data and able to present the information to internal and external partners.

You will also be required to liaise with external partner organisations to ensure data is comparable whilst supporting internal teams to achieve successful project set up and maximisation of outcomes, so being a results driven individual would be an advantage.

Experience and knowledge of data systems and the presentation of results in formats such as GIS is essential, as is the ability to accurately maintain the management of project and programme data. We are also looking for excellent written and verbal communication within the final candidate.

Experience of working in Local Government or the public sector would be advantage but not essential.

Coaches and Volunteers wanted!

Our Community Sports Team is seeking North Norfolk based sports coaches and activity instructors to join its coach register.  Coaches on the register will be utilised as and when the need arises to help to deliver the Community Sports Teams current and future provision of sporting and physical activity opportunities to the community.  We would be delighted to hear from anybody who wishes to be included on this register.

We are also seeking to add to our pool of volunteers and would love to hear from anybody who may be interested in helping us to deliver our service to the community on a voluntary basis.  A volunteer role with us would suit those who are looking to gain experience in the sports and leisure industry and people with a strong belief in community and community based activities.

Please note volunteers will be required to undertake a satisfactory criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB).
