North Norfolk District Council has been commended in the 'Sky's the Limit Challenge' - the national competition encouraging councils to increase their Direct Debit sign up for Council tax and business rates.

NNDC was specially commended following a successful campaign which saw its Direct Debit sign up increase by nearly seven per cent - taking the total of customers paying by Direct Debit to 63 per cent.

Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay Council tax, and it is recommended that everyone changes to this simple method of payment. Direct Debit saves the taxpayer a great deal of time and effort, because there are no cheques to write, and there is no paperwork, no cash to handle, no postage to pay, and no queuing. The bank or building society does all the work.

Paying by Direct Debit also helps the Council to keep costs down, so any savings will be passed on to local residents in the form of better services.
