NNDC Phone Numbers for Bins Inquiries21 September, 2004North Norfolk District Council is clarifying the contact numbers for bins inquiries, so members of the public can be sure who to call while new collection arrangements are being rolled out across the District. The general standard of service on NNDC's telephones has deteriorated badly in recent weeks, as lines have been clogged by calls about the new Twin Bins rubbish and recycling scheme, and the recently-launched garden waste collection. Now NNDC has re-organised its teams and telephones to cope better with the hundreds of calls received daily about the new bins. Also, Council advertisements this Thursday (23 September) in the Eastern Daily Press (north edition), the North Norfolk News and the Dereham and Fakenham Times will give the public the correct numbers to call, along with a list of frequently-asked questions (FAQs) and their answers, which may save people the need to call in the first place. Advertising on North Norfolk Radio is also planned. The numbers people should call are as follows:
Even with the new arrangements, the lines may get very busy and people are asked to try again later on the correct number if they get no answer. People are asked not to call any other NNDC numbers about bins, as the officers who answer will not be in a position to help with bins inquiries. A fuller list of FAQs will also be available on the Council's website: www.northnorfolk.org NNDC Corporate Director Ruth Langslow said: "We must apologise to those people who have had a poor service on the telephones recently, caused by the monumental task of rolling out this new service. We've taken steps to rectify these problems, within the resources available to us, and we are trying to ensure that people can get through swiftly, and first time. If you can't get through, though, we apologise again - and ask that you keep trying, because it is important to us that we deal fully and properly with everyone's inquiries."
