New Communications Manager at North Norfolk District Council

Peter Battrick has been appointed Communications Manager at North Norfolk District Council, as the Council strives to help people access and understand its services better.

Peter spent 20 years with the National Trust, most recently as the Trust's regional marketing and communications officer based at Blickling Hall. He began his career with the National Trust in the Lake District after 10 years as a secondary school teacher in his native Lancashire.

He moved on to work for the Trust in Kent and Cheshire (where he acted as chief executive of a project to reintroduce steam power to a Trust-owned cotton mill) before coming to North Norfolk in 1998.

He left the National Trust last year and became an enterprise adviser for schools, helping them to introduce innovations in management.

Peter's interests include cricket (he plays for Cromer) and football, as well as organic gardening and enjoying the local coast and countryside.

His role at North Norfolk District Council will see him working to improve communication at the Council, internally and externally, to help make sure information is timely, accurate and flows freely, and to improve the Council's decision-making, accountability and accessibility.
