Melton Constable Conservation Area AppraisalConsultation period: 26 November, 2007, to 7 January, 200814 November, 2007North Norfolk District Council is asking for views on a draft Conservation Area Appraisal for Melton Constable which includes proposals for future management. Conservation Area appraisals define the special character and distinctiveness of a particular area. Aspects such as history, architecture, landscape setting, views, open spaces, trees and streetscene are all considered. Proposals are made to protect and enhance this character. These include protecting buildings of local interest with a 'local listing', adoption of tighter planning controls and reviewing the boundary of the Conservation Area. This six-week consultation gives local people the chance to participate in the process and raise their views on the Conservation Area and its future management. A public exhibition is on display at Grove Road Doctors Surgery from Monday, 26 November, 2007 until Monday, 7 January, 2008 to explain the appraisal and the draft future management proposals. Written comments can be made at this exhibition. A public meeting to discuss the Conservation Area Appraisal is planned for Thursday, 10 January, 2008, at 6pm in the Country Club at Melton Constable. A copy of the full appraisal document is available to view at the exhibition or online at www.northnorfolk.org/council/5467_6245.asp Anyone who is aware of other relevant issues that need further consideration, before finalising the Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Proposals, is welcome to raise them with the District Council:
