Chance for local residents to influence Conservation Area Appraisal

14 November, 2007

North Norfolk District Council is inviting residents of Aldborough and nearby Thurgarton to comment on its new draft Conservation Area Appraisal, with an exhibition and a public meeting.

Aldborough's is the very first of 82 Conservation Area appraisals that the Council aims to produce over the coming years, covering towns and villages across the whole of North Norfolk. Their purpose is to define the special character and spirit of a place, looking at the nature of the landscape, history, buildings, views, streetscapes, green spaces and trees. In other words looking at everything that makes a place special and what should be treasured and protected.

Alongside assessing the character of a place the Conservation Area appraisals include recommendations for future protection and enhancement of the area concerned.

Residents of Aldborough and Thurgarton now have the opportunity to have their say on the draft appraisal. An exhibition will be on display at Aldborough Community Centre until 23 December (tel. 01263 761310 for opening times). The appraisal document can be viewed on the Council website on www.northnorfolk.org and a Consultation Response Form is available to download.

A public meeting to discuss the Aldborough and Thurgarton Conservation Area appraisal will take place at the Aldborough Community Centre on 10 December at 6pm.
