Recycling Messages at Christmas Markets

28 November, 2007

North Norfolk District Council's recycling team will be at two forthcoming markets with information and advice about what to do with seasonal waste.

The team will have a market pitch at Fakenham tomorrow (Thursday, 29 November) and at North Walsham on 6 December, where they will be giving away free jute and cloth shopping bags to encourage people to reduce their use of plastic bags, and handing out leaflets about recycling and composting.

In the spirit of the Fakenham Christmas Tree Festival, which starts tomorrow [Thursday 29 November] the team will be bringing a Christmas tree covered in decorations made from recycled materials, as an inspiration to families for the festive season ahead.

NOTES FOR EDITOR

  • A full timetable of Christmas and New Year collection dates has been published in North Norfolk District Council's magazine for residents, Outlook, which is being distributed this week (26 November to 1 December).
  • No extra non-recyclable rubbish placed alongside the grey bin will be collected over Christmas, but extra recyclables put securely in a clear bag or cardboard box next to the green bin will be picked up as usual.
  • Clean wrapping paper and cards can be put in the green bin for recycling but plastic, foil or fancy papers, or paper and card contaminated by adhesive tape or ribbons, should not go into the green bin.
  • Christmas trees can be recycled using a brown garden waste bin from North Norfolk District Council, costing £30.94 for a year (26 fortnightly collections).
  • If you have any queries about waste, recycling, clinical or garden waste collections, please call 01263 516189.
