North Norfolk Information Centre opens Friday

28 July, 2008

The new North Norfolk Information Centre is officially opened this Friday [1 August] by Norfolk's premier purveyor of squit, Keith Skipper.

The £775,000 Centre was purpose-built in the heart of Cromer on Louden Road below the Meadow car park to serve residents of, and visitors to, the whole of North Norfolk. It opened to the public last Thursday [24 July] and has since seen almost 3000 people through its doors.

It is home to North Norfolk's only year-round Tourist Information Centre (which has relocated from its former Cromer bus station site), and gives 'virtual' access to a world of information, including local services, thanks to public internet access and being a Wi-Fi 'hotspot'. It also houses new public toilets and baby changing facilities. The building is energy-efficient and environmentally-sensitive, and its facilities are designed to be accessible to people who use wheelchairs.

The media are welcome to attend the official opening at 11am on Friday, 1 August, 2008 by writer and raconteur Keith Skipper and North Norfolk District Council Chairman Councillor Sue Arnold.

The North Norfolk Information Centre was funded by North Norfolk District Council with £150,000 from Objective 2 of the European Regional Development Fund.
