Superseded Local Plan

Local Plan
The North Norfolk Local Plan (including Proposal & Inset Maps) was adopted on the 2nd April 1998 and expired from use on the 24th September 2008. One Local Plan Policy remains in use, Policy 29 The Reuse and Adaptation of Buildings in the Countryside (commonly known as the Barns Policy), and this is due to be reviewed shortly. The Local Plan provided the detailed framework for the control of development and use of land that guided day-to-day planning decisions in North Norfolk.

The replacement plan, the Local Development Framework (LDF), contains a series of documents that provides new updated policies and guidance for North Norfolk. The documents include a Core Strategy (including Development Control Policies), Proposals Map, Site Allocations document, and a range of Supplementary Planning Documents covering Landscape Character, Design and Planning Obligations.

The contents of the Local Plan is still relevant to some existing planning applications and has been retained on this website for this purpose, and for historical reference.
