Landscape Character AssessmentAs part of the formulation of the 'Core Strategy' and 'Site Specific Proposals' the District Council needs to assess the character of the local landscape. This will be used to formulate policies to protect and enhance the landscape and may be used to prepare a Supplementary Planning Document in due course. The study is being undertaken by NNDC staff in conjunction with the Norfolk Coast AONB Partnership, the Broads Authority and Norfolk Landscape Archaeology. The purpose of the study is to:
The initial study was completed in September 2005, and consultation with landscape and environmental bodies was undertaken during Autumn 2005. Further work is planned to provide further detail on landscape sensitivity and quality and integration of biodiversity in 2006/2007. The Landscape Character Assessment may be adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document in 2008.
