Advice on wildlife issues, especially in relation to development, can be sought. The section was also involved with production of the Norfolk Biodiversity Action Plan and has a close working relationship with a wide variety of nature conservation organisations including Natural England. A checklist for NNDC Designated Sites and Priority Habitats Survey Requirements is available here to ensure planning applications submit the required level of survey. The following are independent wildlife organisations that can give advice on biodiversity and nature conservation:

- The Bat Conservation Trust
- BTCV Norfolk (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers)
Woodland Management
Together with the Countryside Section, advice on appropriate woodland management for the benefit of biodiversity, landscape and recreation including opportunities for the creation of new woodland together with the availability of grant aid can be given. The Forestry Commission is also able to give advice.
