What information do we collect? We collect four kinds of information from visitors to northnorfolk.org:
Registration information You do not have to register to use northnorfolk.org, but you do need to register to access some secure services. Contacting Us You can ask for information or request services in 5 ways: by requests and questions sent by online forms, e-mail, phone, post or in person. In these cases it will be clearly stated at the start of the consultation description and on all feedback pages that this is the case. iii) Council Tax When you contact us regarding Council Tax matters you should be aware that North Norfolk District Council is under a duty to protect the public fund it administers and the information you give us may be used for the prevention and detection of fraud both by the Council and other bodies administering public funds. Accessing your Council Tax account details and Requesting Repairs to your Council House. To safeguard the privacy of your Council Tax account you will need to request a PIN number before you can use this service for the first time. The PIN will be sent to the address we hold corresponding to your council tax account number. When you receive the PIN number visit the site, log in, click on 'My Profile' then click 'Attach/Request a PIN number'. When you enter the PIN number in your profile you will unlock access to your account details. Your PIN number will be stored with your user profile so you will not need to enter the details again. You should destroy your PIN number when you have updated your profile and should not share it with anyone. Making Online Payments We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, a standard supported by major internet browsers. All of your personal and card details are protected using 128 bit encryption when transmitted over the internet. Your card details are stored on a server behind a secure firewall. Only authorised personnel can access this information. Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the site. We collate log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Consultations may be used to assist Council decision making. Occasionally we will undertake consultations which can only be considered valid if we can identify the respondents. In these cases it will be clearly stated at the start of the consultation description and on all feedback pages that this is the case.
