Salthouse 05

Salthouse 05 was curated by Liz Falconbridge and ran from 7 July to 7 August 2005.

The exhibition was opened by Stephen Snoddy, Project Manager of CAN 05 and Director of New Art Gallery Walsall. Salthouse 05 showcased the work of well over 50 artists, both emerging and established, all with a strong North Norfolk connection. Each artist produced a new work that responded directly or indirectly to the special context for the exhibition. This site-specific approach gave the viewer a chance to explore and reveal the pieces that inhabited the space, providing an experience with universal appeal that excited in the present with echoes of the past. Salthouse 05 was supported by North Norfolk District Council, Awards for All, Norfolk County Council and Arts Council Emgland, East, and sponsored by Whin Hill Cider, Wells and the C21 Shop, Mundesley.

A commission to create an artwork with a coastal theme was given by Virgo Energy in 2005, the artist to be chosen by the curator. King's Lynn artist Tony Bellars was selected and the work was completed in February 06 and installed in Alderman Peel High School, Wells-next-the-Sea in the summer.
