Sheringham and District Preservation Society. 25 Years of Protecting Sheringham

Programme of Events 2010

SOCIAL PROGRAMME

The Society would like to mount a full social programme for members including lunches, coffee mornings and excursions.

During 2009 very successful lunches were held at the Golf Club in June to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Society and the annual Christmas celebration was held at the Burlington Hotel when Theo Fanthorpe entertained guests after the meal. A visit to Sheringham Hall (not normally open to the public) was also arranged for members.

The programme for 2010 will be announced in the early part of the year.

REGULAR SOCIAL GATHERINGS

The Society has long recognised that it lacks a means by which members can regularly meet socially. The organisation of fund-raising suppers and lectures, which was once carried out by the Society, was taken on by the Sheringham Museum Trust several years ago because their need for funds was greater. Society members are encouraged to attend these, and, like those of the Museum Trust, members receive a reduction on the admission price to the winter lectures programme.

Discussions are currently being held on the form which regular social gatherings of Society members might take. An experimental meeting was held on 25th November, when Sam Smee gave an entertaining talk on his experiences on board Royal Navy submarines. The next such meeting is scheduled for 21st January (10.30 am at the Oddfellows Hall) when there will be a talk on and in the Norfolk dialect.
