Community Sports Network

("Active North Norfolk")

What is a Community Sports Network? A CSN is a collection of people/organisations that have a desire to develop and promote sport and physical activity in their locality. A typical CSN may include representatives from a local authority (SDO), school sports partnership, sports clubs, sports centres, the health sector, volunteer networks and wider community groups such as disability and older people organisations. Many partnerships also include individuals with the knowledge, skills and expertise to add value to the partnership and become a member. The above list is not exhaustive and the "make up" of the group is based on local interest and need. For further information go to: www.sportengland.org.

Active North Norfolk was established April 2007. Formalisation of the constitution was done in April 2007. This network is now entitled "Active North Norfolk" and includes members from the follow:

  • North Norfolk District Council
  • Active Norfolk (County Sports Partnership)
  • Schools
  • DC Leisure
  • County Council Youth Services
  • Local Area Partnerships
  • North Norfolk Community Partnership (LSP)
  • Primary Care Trust

The main objective of the partnership is to collectively work towards shared goals and objectives, sharing resources and expertise. Funding can be drawn down from Sport England lottery fund to deliver activities. Those activities must respond to the Active People Survey which states that only 18.5% of North Norfolk residents complete 3 x 30 minutes of moderate activity each week. This compares to the regional average of 20.5%.
