Holt Country Park Holt Country ParkHolt Country Park is only a short walk from the historic market town of Holt on the edge of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has had a chequered history, from a horseracing course, heath, farmland, forestry, and woodland garden. It has now been developed into a tranquil woodland dominated with Scots Pine and native broadleaves. Its rich ground flora supports an abundant display of wildlife including Goldcrests, Greater Spotted Woodpeckers, Emperor Dragonflies and Deer. The Park contains a Visitor Centre with shop, toilets, and waymarked walks which include an Easy Access Trail and for the more adventurous countryside walks from 1-18miles. When exploring the park you may stumble upon a viewing tower, pond, sculptures, totem pole and play area or why not pick up an activity to keep you occupied from the visitors centre. Activities can be organised for groups and are very popular with schools, or families can join in environmental and arts events throughout the year. Holt Country Park Management Plan (.pdf 989Kb)
Holt Country Park has been awarded a Green Flag Award every year since 2005: www.greenflagaward.org.uk Holt Country Park can be found on the B1149, just outside Holt. It is a large park offering a play area and a visitor centre and is open every day. There are toilets, a small shop and ample car parking for which a small charge is made in peak season. You can buy season tickets for the car park and events, which are available from North Norfolk District Council on 01263 516298. Work is continually being carried out to improve access for those people you are less mobile and one of the way marked routes is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
