Street Lighting

Street lights across the district are installed and maintained between the town, county and district councils. You can find out more in the Street Lighting information page on Norfolk County Council's website.

Reporting a fault

An online report form can be found in the information on the Norfolk County Council's website on http://www.forms.norfolk.gov.uk/streetlightreport.htm. It is helpful to have details of the exact location and any serial/asset number shown on the street light itself (if one is provided).

Alternatively, the telephone numbers for Street Lighting at the County Council are 0844 800 8008, 01603 223196 or 01603 223197.

A general guide to the way the lights are managed is provided below.

Always report faults through the County Council's Street Lighting Dept via the website given above or the telephone numbers provided unless located:

  • in a rural location, in which case it should be reported to the Parish Council.

  • on a North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) Sheltered Housing site, in which case it should be reported to NNDC's Housing Dept on 01263 513811.

  • on Cromer pier or promenade, in which case it should be reported to NNDC on 01263 513811.

  • on an NNDC car park, in which case it should be reported to NNDC on 01263 513811.

  • on Sheringham Promenade, in which case it should be reported to NNDC on 01263 513811.

It should be noted that Cromer, Fakenham, North Walsham and Sheringham Town Councils also operate some lights on side roads, alleys and shopping precincts but if not marked, it is best to report the fault through the County Council.
