We are seeking to appoint a forward-thinking Benefits Manager to proactively lead the Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support team.

The suitable candidate will have a broad, in-depth knowledge and understanding of the administration and processing of Housing Benefits, Council Tax Support schemes and Discretionary Housing Payment. They will take the lead on advising the Council on policy and good practice in this area and have the opportunity to shape the future delivery of this vital service.

A key requirement of the role will be to provide a strong leadership across a busy service, inspiring the team to focus on the highest levels of performance and customer service.

Applicants must be comfortable with defining and implementing changes to improve quality of service and efficiency by ensuring initiatives are implemented successfully.

Excellent communications skills are essential as well as the confidence to produce easy-to-understand documents and data for a wide range of audiences.
