Would you enjoy working on, and visiting, the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Coastal Engineer to work in our team; delivering the UK’s first ever sandscaping scheme at Bacton, the £63m Lowestoft scheme and other £75m capital schemes in the next 10 years.

Your role will support the management of the coast protection assets along the North Norfolk District Council and Great Yarmouth Borough Council coastline. This will include undertaking site visits, defence inspections, survey of assets and supporting the team in the delivery of projects. You will also lead the repair and maintenance work that we do on our assets. This will include minimising the risk to life and property by ensuring that existing structures are maintained or renewed and new structures built in a timely and effective manner.

You will need to be creative, enthusiastic and a highly motivated aspiring engineering professional. Great communication skills are also required to work with our Board, Senior Officer Group, key stakeholders and the communities we serve.

You need to have a minimum of a Foundation degree, some experience of civil engineering projects, working with contractors and be aware of construction safety management. Having an understanding of coast defence projects and the use of GIS would be a distinct advantage.
