An opportunity to help shape the future of North Norfolk

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our forward-thinking and dynamic planning department here at North Norfolk District Council. We are an ambitious authority looking to deliver growth, provide innovative and high quality developments, and preserve the many qualities of our beautiful corner of the world.

Are you an experienced planner within either the public, private or third sector?

Would you like to work in a diverse rural district with a varied and interesting caseload? Do you feel inspired by working within a friendly and talented professional team?

This is a real opportunity for candidates who are committed to delivering high quality developments and providing a customer focussed service, who enjoy working within an integrated and multi-disciplinary planning and building control service.

The Major Projects Team helps to deliver significant housing, leisure and economic growth proposals across the district.  We also support the agriculture and tourism industry and work on some of the largest renewable energy projects in the country.

At the same time we have a responsibility to preserve North Norfolk’s internationally-recognised beauty, valued landscapes and heritage assets, working closely with colleagues in our specialist Conservation, Design, Landscape and Ecology Team.

Your role within a small and friendly team will include shaping schemes at pre-application level and determining complex applications. We will also work with planning policy colleagues to provide input to development briefs, masterplans and policies for future site allocations.  You will also have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing process and business systems improvement. This is a challenging but equally rewarding role where your experience, and above all enthusiasm, will prove invaluable in helping deliver North Norfolk’s future growth aspirations.

We will provide support for training and your professional development and help you achieve professional membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute if you are not already a member.

Working in Cromer provides easy access by rail and road to the region’s leading retail and leisure destination of Norwich, and is part of the beautiful coast of east and central Norfolk.

Your North Norfolk experience will include beautiful countryside, attractive and historic market towns and villages, and 45miles of stunning coastline including an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and 6 blue flag beaches. Many people recall childhood holidays along our coast; join us to create some wonderful new memories!

Please note that we do not accept CVs unless accompanied by a fully completed application form. Please send completed applications to HR@north-norfolk.gov.uk

For an informal discussion please contact Rob Parkinson, Major Projects Team Leader, on 01263 516149.
