North Norfolk District Council has a new Leader following a meeting of the Full Council this evening.
The following Notice of Motion was proposed at Full Council by Cllr Sarah Bütikofer and seconded by Cllr Eric Seward: 'This Council no longer has confidence in the Leader of the Council and this administration’.
That vote was carried, with 26 votes for and 17 votes against, with 3 abstentions.
The Council’s constitution states that for a motion of no confidence to be approved, it must be carried by a majority of the Members of the whole Council, which is a minimum of 25 Members out of 48.
A proposal was subsequently put forward to Full Council to elect Cllr Sarah Bütikofer as the Council’s new leader.
This proposal was carried by 22 votes for and 17 votes against, with 7 abstentions.
The new Leader will appoint her Cabinet in the next few days.
