Ahead of the Local Government Elections to be held on Thursday 2nd May 2019, North Norfolk District Council will be holding an agents and candidates briefing at 6pm on Thursday 7th March 2019 at the District Council’s offices, Holt Road, Cromer.

The evening will inform potential candidates and political agents about the election process and what steps are involved in standing. Returning Officer and Head of Paid Service Steve Blatch will host a presentation covering such key areas as: the election timetable and key dates, the nominations process, candidate qualifications / disqualifications, the role of agents and rules relating to election publicity. He will also outline postal voting arrangements, what happens on the day of poll, count arrangements, candidate expenses and key contacts.

Information shared at this briefing will also be available on the Council’s website after the event for people who are unable to attend. This information will appear alongside links to copies of nomination forms and Electoral Commission guidance.

Mr Blatch said: “Elections to North Norfolk District Council for the four years from May 2019 will take place on Thursday 2nd May 2019. These elections are being contested on new ward boundaries and the briefing event will provide an opportunity for anyone considering standing as a candidate to be a District Councillor to ask questions on the process of nominations, election publicity, and the poll and count processes. The briefing is intended to make the process of standing as a candidate at these elections as easy as possible.”
