Members of the public are being advised to take care across North Norfolk this evening (Tuesday 8 January), particularly in coastal areas, as winds are forecast to reach in excess of 50mph until Wednesday 9 January.
Three flood alerts for parts of the North Norfolk coast for tonight, these include:
- Bacton to Ostend, including Walcott
- From East Cley to Kelling Hard, including Salthouse
- Old Hunstanton, Brancaster, Burnham, Holkham, Wells, Blakeney and Cley
In addition to these warnings there is a possibility of some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths. The EA is monitoring the situation. Relevant flood wardens have been contacted and the NNDC flood gates that we closed yesterday remain closed. Some waste bins have also been moved.
As a precaution diversions are being put in place for Walcott/Bacton and a full road closure will be enacted from 18.00hrs tonight in interests of public safety due to the possibility of wave-borne debris.
There is plenty of advice available for businesses and residents in North Norfolk regarding the risk of flooding and what steps can be taken to prepare and what to do in the event of a flood.
