More than £25,000 was awarded in December

The latest round of North Norfolk District Council’s Community Transport grants have been awarded supporting a wide range of groups.

The worthy local causes which benefited from the latest round of funding include:

  • North Norfolk Community Transport - £21,000 towards their Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Scheme to help people in wheelchairs get to medically related appointments.
  • Aldborough Village Care – £1500 towards a volunteer car scheme for patients registered with Aldborough Surgery who are unable to drive or access alternative transport to access medical appointments.
  • Burnham Market Area Community Car Scheme – £1,000 towards a community car scheme for medical appointments for those people living in Fakenham, Gt Walsingham, Little Walsingham, Holkham, Stiffkey, Wells, Wicken Green, Wighton, Warham and Binham areas.
  • Aylsham & District Care Trust – £1,500 towards the running costs of the Shoppers Minibus covering Corpusty, Colby with Banningham, Erpingham.

 The North Norfolk District Council Community Transport Fund Panel will meet next in March 2020. In order for complete applications to be considered by the Panel they will need to be submitted to the Council’s Health and Communities Team by Friday, 28th February 2020.

Virginia Gay, North Norfolk District Council Portfolio Holder for Arts & Culture said: “Without local groups like these many of us in North Norfolk would find it impossible to get to our medical appointments or perhaps even do our shopping.  We are grateful to the dedicated people who keep them running day after day and very glad to do what we can to help them.”
