Spring Budget 2020
On 11 March 2020, The Chancellor announced extra help for businesses as part of the Spring Budget. There are some changes that will impact business rate bills in 2020/21:
Retail discount
The retail discount was due to be increased from one-third to 50%. The government has announced this is to increase to 100%. It appears that the discount has also been extended to included some businesses within the leisure and hospitality industries however we are still waiting confirmation.
Pub relief
Pub relief was due to be reinstated for 2020/21 with a discount of £1,000 for eligible public houses. The government has announced this discount may be increased up to £5,000 however we are still waiting details.
One-off £3k Grant
We are currently awaiting guidance from central government regarding this announcement and all properties affected will be notified.
If you are affected by these changes, we will contact you once details have been provided. You do not need to do anything. The bill issued to you on the 5th March 2020 is correct and you should continue to make payment as detailed on your bill.
