Explore the Deep History Coast this Autumn with the Mammoth Marathon Challenge! Like many events, the inaugural Mammoth Marathon, which should have taken place earlier this year, has been postponed until 16th May 2021. However, our spirits have not been dampened and we have created a series of fun tasks designed to get people active, get people exploring, and get people creating.

Anyone can take part, but it’s particularly great for children, and our set of 26 challenges or ‘milestones’ (one for each mile) will have you exploring rock pools, creating obstacles courses and get you using nature to create beautiful art!

Successful challengers will receive a certificate and there are 1000 official Mammoth Marathon 2020 medals up for grabs! The first entrants to complete either the “Half Challenge” (13 tasks) or all 26 for the “Full Challenge” will be able to claim their prize from our Visitor Centre in Cromer.

Cllr Virginia Gay, NNDC’s Portfolio Holder for Culture and Wellbeing, commented: “Our Mammoth Marathon Challenge is a challenge to imagination - to tell a story, paint a picture, look out to the stars or think back to the people who long ago left their footprints on our coast.  All of the activities on the trail are simple, fun and free.  You may hunt for fossils out of doors or make a healthy snack at home. There's something here for all of us.”

Head over to Visit North Norfolk to get some inspiration and download your trail map.

So what are you waiting for… get involved and be sure to show us what you get up to using the hashtag #MMChallenge, and tagging us @NN_DeepHistory (Twitter) or @NNDeepHistoryCoast (Facebook).
