A young man has been fined £200 after fly-tipping food and parcel rubbish in the car park at Pretty Corner woods, Sheringham.
After being alerted to the fly-tip thanks to a Facebook post, our Countryside Rangers photographed the litter and discovered a name and home address, which allowed our Environmental Protection team to locate and fine the perpetrator.
Emily Capps, NNDC’s Assistant Director for Environment and Leisure Services, commented: “We interviewed the perpetrator under caution, and he admitted to depositing the waste.
“Due to the size and nature of the waste deposited and the person’s willingness to take responsibility for their wrongdoing, we decided to resolve this by issuing a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) for ‘Depositing controlled waste’ – full amount £300 or £200 if paid within 10 days.
“The FPN amount of £200 was paid within 10 days of issue which is a great result for the team and we are confident the culprit will not commit this crime again.”
