Council Tax Support is a discount which reduces the amount of Council Tax residents on low incomes in North Norfolk have to pay. It is means-tested, so the more income a household has, the less help they will receive.
Since 1 April 2013 the Council has been operating a local Council Tax Support scheme (CTS), which replaced Council Tax Benefit.
Each year the Council has to review and approve its scheme. This year the Council is considering some changes to the administration of Council Tax Support.
Before this takes place we consult with customers and stakeholders to help us develop and update our scheme.
The consultation and other factors will be used to shape a final decision by the council early in 2021. If approved, changes to the scheme could be made from April.
Any changes to the Council Tax Support scheme from 1 April 2021 do not affect Pension Age applicants, unless they have a partner who is receiving a work age means tested benefit or Universal Credit.
