The food hygiene rating or inspection result given to a business reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of inspection or visit by the local authority. The food hygiene rating is not a guide to food quality.
If you are a business and you are not happy with your rating, there are a number of safeguards to ensure the scheme is fair.
They include an appeals procedure, a 'right to reply', and an opportunity to request a re-visit when improvements have been made to be reassessed for a new rating.
