The legislation around homelessness changed with the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction Act (HRA 2017) on 3rd April 2018.
This puts emphasis on the assistance each council in England can offer customers who have experienced or are about to experience homelessness.
This will result in the council working with more customers to help them solve their homelessness situation.
Since the 3rd April 2018, the council now makes every effort to prevent or relieve homelessness before it makes a final decision on the application. This means that the council will now work with applicants initially for 56 days to make sure that people are helped as soon as possible.
