Report an empty home
If you notice an empty or abandoned property you can report it to us.
An 'empty home' is a property which is unoccupied and unfurnished. It becomes a long-term empty property when empty for over six months.
If Council Tax is being paid on an empty home, the Council has limited powers to intervene. However, if a property is becoming dangerous, derelict and impacting the locality, the Council can consider the best course of action to protect the area.
How to report an empty home
You can use our online form. We will require the following information:
- location
- type of property
- estimation of how long the property has been vacant
- condition of the property
