Planning - Development Control (Planning Applications)

Development Control is the process by which development proposals (in the form of planning applications), are considered and decided. All planning decisions are made in accordance with the Development Plan, unless there are sound planning reasons for not doing so. The Development Control Service also defends planning appeals on behalf of the Council, investigates breaches of planning control through its planning enforcement team and adjudicates in disputes over High Hedges. Development Control does not consider how a building or extension is constructed, this is covered by the Building Regulations and dealt with by our Building Control Service.
