Fire Safety

North-Norfolk District Council and the Fire and Rescue Service, have joined forces to bring you a timely reminder on fire safety across our district.

NO FIRES - North-Norfolk, Overcoming Fire in Rural Environments.

The campaign launches on the anniversary of many devastating fires which spread across the district throughout June last year.

Whatever you are doing across the district - please enjoy your time in our rural environment safely.

This section has been developed to inform you of ways to keep safe in relation to outbreaks of fire.

At work:

  • Avoid lighting any fires especially in hot dry periods
  • Create and maintain fire-breaks
  • Service farm machinery
  • Keep a water extinguisher in your farm vehicles
  • Limit the size of stacks
  • Build stacks away from highway boundaries and 10m between each stack
  • Take a mobile phone with you especially if you work alone

At play:

  • Avoid lighting any fires especially in hot dry periods
  • Follow the country code
  • Keep off private land
  • Let someone know where you are going
  • Place barbecues on level ground away from dry vegetation. Keep a water supply handy.
  • If a fire breaks out, keep well away from the area. Do not leave vehicles in fields or access gateways
  • Keep animals and children under constant supervision
  • Leaflets poster and flyers are available across the district at all NNDC buildings, fire stations and many other tourist venues.
