Neighbourhood plan progress

Trunch Parish Council are undertaking a 'pre-submission' consultation on their draft Neighbourhood Plan between 3 August to 18 September 2026. This is the first formal consultation on their Neighbourhood Plan and provides an opportunity for engagement with the public and stakeholders in order to help shape a robust and effective plan proposal.

The feedback from this consultation exercise will be used to develop a final Neighbourhood Plan for submission to North Norfolk District Council and then examination by an independent examiner. Once the final draft is submitted, the Council will publicise the draft Plan, invite representations in a six-week period of public consultation, appoint an examiner, and send the representations received and the draft Plan to the examiner.

Following examination, if the draft Plan is approved by the Council, the next stage is to incorporate the examiner's recommendations into the Plan and put this to a public referendum. If accepted by a majority vote, the draft Neighbourhood Plan must be adopted for use by the Council within 8-weeks following the referendum. Once approved, the Neighbourhood Plan will form part of the district-wide planning framework and become a material consideration (must be taken into account) in the consideration of future planning applications in the Trunch Neighbourhood Area.
