Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre continues its revival after the pandemic as an all-year-round live entertainment hub.

Following a successful spring season which included the finest touring shows in the UK, the theatre hosted the annual Cromer and Sheringham Operatic and Dramatic Society production, the first since 2019.

Shrek the Musical was hailed a resounding success, with nine shows watched by almost 4,200 people over the half-term holiday period. Many of the shows had very close to full houses and were met with rave reviews.

The show was performed by the CSODS (Cromer and Sheringham Operatic and Dramatic Society) and had a cast of around 40 actors, including Norwich-based costume designer Daniel Smith and Andreas Yiasimi, town and district councillor.

The next exciting show at the Pavilion Theatre is the 2022 season of The Cromer Pier Show, back with a brand-new cast and a guest act each week, bringing a fresh, exciting feel to the show. The show opens on Saturday, July 2, with nine performances each week until Saturday, October 1.

The Cromer Pier Show is the only full season end of pier show in the world and has been loved by generations of theatre lovers. Pre-show ticket sales are strong and it is hoped that audiences will return to achieve pre-pandemic numbers.

There is heightened interest in the show on the back of the show’s success in 2021 and ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent finalist Ben Nickless hosting the season.

Debs Lewis, Marketing, Box Office and Retail Manager, Cromer Pier and Pavilion Theatre, said:

“We were delighted to host the CSOD’s production of Shrek the Musical and thrilled that the show was met with critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences of all ages. It was wonderful to see so many children experiencing the joy of live theatre.

“We are now all looking forward to the opening of the Cromer Pier Show and the team is extremely optimistic and ready for a bumper season.”
