Battle of the Beaches Generic Social Post v1 (Landscape).png

Seaside hotspots across the District will once again be pitted against each other in a bid to be crowned North Norfolk’s favourite beach. From July to September, our “Battle of the Beaches” returns to social media, with more voting options and exciting head-to-heads set to ensure an epic showdown of the shoreline.

During the inaugural competition of 2022, Mundesley pipped West Runton to the post for first place in a nail-biting final with just six votes between them at 1003 to 997. Local businesses, residents and visitors alike got involved to champion their favourite and over 6,000 votes were cast across 13 rounds, with some surprise results along the way, making it all to play for this year.

Of course, here at NNDC we believe all of our beaches are fantastic and each has its unique charms – and everyone is a winner in our books! The competition provides a great opportunity for each of the beaches involved and their supporting communities to champion their favourite seaside spot. It also provides us the opportunity to promote tourism in our beautiful district and share the work of our many coastal partners.

Cllr. Tim Adams, Leader of North Norfolk District Council, said:

“We are extremely lucky to enjoy a fantastically diverse coastline here in North Norfolk, with a beach to suit any mood; from Overstrand for a quiet dog walk, to Cromer for fish and chips on the Pier.

It was exciting to see how popular the Battle of Beaches competition was last year, I look forward to the upcoming tournament and hopefully the same spirited support for 2023.”

Want to get involved? Voting is easy, and takes place across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. When ‘matches’ are live on Facebook, simply ‘like’ or ‘love’ react for your chosen winner – Instagram and Twitter have simple polls to cast your vote. Make sure to ‘share’ them too so others can play and feel free to rally support for your favourite!

The first fixture will take place on Monday 17 July, so follow us across those channels on @northnorfolkdc to play along and keep up with the competition with the hashtag #BattleOfTheBeaches23.
