Work to begin later this year for Fakenham’s new swimming pool

A date has been confirmed for the construction of a new 25 metre swimming pool at Fakenham Sports & Fitness Centre.
The construction phase of the project is set to begin on 6 October 2025 and is expected to complete in December 2026.
As part of the exciting transformation, the gym and studio will be temporarily relocated to a section of the sports hall, meaning the sports hall will operate at reduced capacity for a period of time.
While some disruption is anticipated, award-winning operators Everyone Active are already working hard to ensure a well-balanced programme remains in place and to accommodate as many users and hirers as possible. Every effort will be made to keep closures or interruptions to a minimum.
Users of the centre can expect a phased opening to the gym and then swimming pool, to ensure Everyone Active can continue running the facilities loved by many in Fakenham and beyond.
Cllr. Tim Adams, Leader of the Council said:
"This next step of the project is a significant milestone for both the Council and for local residents, as Fakenham's long held hope for having a pool again can be met.
We look forward to delivering this project for the town, which can be enjoyed for many years to come"
The current facilities, owned by North Norfolk District Council, include a sports hall, fitness suite, multi-use area, dance studio, changing rooms and a reception area.
Beyond the new gym facilities and Olympic standard swimming pool, the Council is continuing with the proposal for a 3G pitch for the Fakenham site.
