Charity auction raises over £1000 for local dementia groups

At the Chairman’s Civic Reception Event, held in Norfolk Wildlife Trust Cley & Salthouse Marshes Visitor Centre, £1150.00 was raised for local dementia groups through a silent auction.
Up for auction were a range of items, very kindly donated by local North Norfolk businesses and generous individuals.
Guests enjoyed a chance to join in with local singing for health charity, Playing for Cake, play bird bingo, and hear local ornithologist, Richard Porter, giving a very thought provoking talk on birding and dementia.
Cllr. Victoria Holliday, Chairman of the Council, said:
I’ve spent my chairman’s year visiting the wonderful North Norfolk community groups offering support to residents with dementia and their carers.
I’ve been humbled by the passion and compassion shown - we are so fortunate to have volunteers throughout our district making such a difference.
I'm very pleased to have had an opportunity to support them, and hugely grateful to the local businesses and individuals who gave such generous amounts for my silent auction, enabling us to raising a staggering £1150.”
Throughout the year, Cllr. Holliday has visited community dementia groups across the district to thank volunteers for all they do to support those with dementia and their Carers.
The Chairman also held a well-attended dementia networking event for different community groups supporting those with dementia and their carers, and organisations working in the area.
This provided a wonderful opportunity to meet and share ideas and experiences. The event was also hosted by the Vice Lord Lieutenant Michael Gurney, and featured insightful and heartfelt presentations by the community groups.

The Chairman has raised a total of £4868.00 for local dementia groups throughout her tenure.
