Spooky new trail explores the macabre folklore of Norfolk
Date published: 24th June 2026
A new trail has been waymarked throughout Holt Country Park inspired by Norfolk folklore
Working with the Countryside Rangers, the Holt Youth Project students were asked to come up with an idea for a new trail at Holt Country Park.
The students came up with the idea for a walkthrough of Norfolk’s mythological creatures, and then research and wrote the stories to be installed at points along the trail.
The new waymarks are pinpointed on the Holt Country Park visitors map, and follow existing mapped routes.
Youth involvement in green spaces is a key priority for NNDC’s Countryside team, with lots of regular events to teach children about their natural environments, wildlife and conservation.
The Council recently opened its Outdoor Learning Space, which will give schools the opportunities for classroom sessions within the park, and is bookable by any community group.
