How often will I get paid?
Housing Benefit payment update 6 April 2020
Housing Benefit is paid four weeks in arrears and will usually be received by the Monday following the end of the four week period. The last four weekly payment you received would have been paid on 30 March 2020. This payment covered the period 2 March 2020 to 29 March 2020 (weeks 49 to 52).
Every 6 years there are 53 weeks within a payment year rather than the standard 52. This is due to spare days in each year adding up and creating an extra week. The year 2019/20 has 53 weeks. We have decided to pay you Housing Benefit for this one week on 6 April 2020. This payment covers 1 week in arrears for the period 30 March 2020 to 5 April 2020 (week 53).
Housing Benefit will then be paid four weeks in arrears from 6 April 2020. Your next payment will be paid on 4 May 2020 and will cover the period 6 April 2020 to 3 May 2020 (weeks 1 to 4).
All the payment dates for 2020 are shown in the table below. You can also download a copy of the Housing Benefit calendar which tells you when each payment is due.
An interim payment run is produced each week to pick up any missed changes in circumstances for past payment periods, covering up to the end of the current four week payment period. You may therefore receive an adjustment payment outside your usual four weekly payment.
