Report an empty home

If you notice an empty or abandoned property you can report it to us.

An empty home is a property which is unoccupied and unfurnished. It becomes a long-term empty property when empty for over six months.

If Council Tax is being paid on an empty home, the Council has limited powers to intervene. However, if a property is becoming dangerous, derelict and impacting the locality, the Council can consider the best course of action to protect the area.

• location
• type of property
• estimation of how long the property has been vacant
• condition of the property
