Final consultation on North Norfolk Local Plan

Date published: 6th August 2025
A six-week public consultation setting out how the draft Local Plan should be amended begins at midday on Wednesday 6 August and runs until 11:59pm on Wednesday 17 September.
The amendments, known as ‘Main Modifications’, have been identified by the government-appointed planning Inspector following an independent examination process and are considered necessary to ensure the Plan is suitable for use and complies with legal requirements.
Members of the public, stakeholders, and interested parties are encouraged to review the proposed changes and to share their views.
All comments received during the consultation will be provided to the Planning Inspector for consideration as part of the examination process.
Full details, including how to access the consultation documents and submit comments, are available on the Council’s website at: www.north-norfolk.gov.uk/localplanconsultation
Cllr Andrew Brown, Portfolio Holder for Planning & Enforcement added:
“The road to preparing the new Local Plan has been a long journey, and we are very pleased to be nearing the final stages. We encourage anyone with an interest in the Plan to share their views through this final stage of consultation.
Once the Inspector has considered the responses, alongside all the evidence presented throughout the examination, they will determine whether the Local Plan is ‘sound’ and produce a written report outlining their final recommendations. The Council then aims to the adopt the Plan for use towards the end of this year.
Once adopted, the Local Plan will set out our expectations from those undertaking development in North Norfolk. It will provide our residents and communities with a degree of certainty in terms of where the majority of future housing and employment growth will take place, and the environmental protections in place to safeguard our special district from inappropriate development.”
