At North Norfolk District Council’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 21 May, Cllr Victoria Holliday stepped down as Chairman of the Council. Cllr Peter Fisher was appointed as the new Chairman for the 2025/26 year.

Cllr Victoria Holliday was appointed Chairman of the Council in May 2024. During her time as Chairman, she has actively engaged with community dementia groups across the district. These visits were part of her ongoing efforts to personally thank the volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to supporting individuals with dementia and their Carers. In addition to these visits, she organised a Dementia Networking Event.

We would also like to welcome Cllr Peter Fisher as the new Chairman for the 2025/26 term.

In his role, he will support the Norfolk Charitable Trust, an organisation committed to enhancing accessibility in North Norfolk for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. The Trust owns and operates the North Norfolk Wheelyboat “Poppy,” which provides wheelchair-accessible ferry boat trips. Launched in 2022, “Poppy” enables individuals with disabilities and their families to experience a unique maritime environment.

Cllr Matthew Taylor was appointed as Vice-Chair.

Cllr Victoria Holliday, Chairman of the Council, said:

“It's been a huge honour to be Chairman of NNDC and thank you very much for giving me that opportunity.

"When I started my Chairman's year, I thought there would be value in shining a spotlight on all the wonderful work in North Norfolk supporting those affected by dementia and their families. And I have been dazzled by the treasure chest of care, inspiration and dedication I have discovered.

"The high point of the year was our networking event in April, where we brought together all these community groups and organisations providing dementia support to celebrate their fantastic work, and share ideas, inspirations and experiences. This was incredibly well received and hopefully will have some momentum in the future."
