Have you ever wondered why cliffs erode, why your favourite beach looks different each time you visit, or what climate change has to do with coastal erosion?

Whether you are three years old or 93, this pocket-sized activity guide will help you look at the North Norfolk coast through the eyes of a coastal manager, geologist, palaeontologist, ecologist, climate scientist or other kind of expert.

It is also packed full of activities and ideas of ways to experience the coast using all your senses - feeling what is beneath your feet, hearing the movement of the waves and seeing the array of colours and textures in the materials that make up our beaches and cliffs.

You can print your own booklet here - coastal-erosion-explorers-pack.pdf

Coastwise developed this booklet to raise awareness of why the coast is as it is, how it is changing, and what is causing the changes we see. Understanding and appreciating our surroundings, and knowing how to get involved with how change is managed (if we wish) is really important.

We hope you enjoy having a go at some beach yoga, feeling the sand, gravel and stones between your toes, dancing like a wave or going back in time by inspecting the layers in the cliffs – echoes of the distant past.

We always like to hear about people’s coastal adventures, so if you are a coastal erosion explorer, do send a picture or an anecdote to Coastwise at coastwise@north-norfolk.gov.uk.
